Oud-Turnhout

The project is thoughtfully designed to balance various needs while enhancing the community’s character and functionality. At the heart of this vision is a new pedestrian and cycling path that connects the village square with Kapelstraat, creating a vibrant hub for social interaction. On the village side, the development integrates seamlessly with the local cycling network, public transportation, and village amenities, prioritizing non-motorized traffic and fostering a more sustainable and connected community.

A key feature of the project is the private park, offering residents a tranquil, green space that preserves the significant greenery defining the area. This park not only maintains the visual appeal for neighbors and the village square but also partially opens the currently private inner area, creating an inviting connection between the village square and Kapelstraat, enhancing both accessibility and community interaction.

On urban level the project blends harmoniously with the existing village character. The building volumes align with neighboring structures, and the façade reflects the vertical rhythm of the square’s perimeter. Ground-floor spaces are dedicated to community functions, strengthening the urban fabric and fostering social cohesion within the project site. The buildings are oriented to maximize southern exposure, ensuring high-quality green outdoor spaces, while maintaining adequate distance from neighboring properties to minimize impact on the surrounding community.

In terms of construction, compactness is prioritized to promote efficiency and sustainability. A smaller footprint allows for more open, green spaces and centers the building volumes within the site, reducing the impact on neighboring properties.

Overall, the project is committed to enhancing the village's character while meeting the needs of both current and future residents. By preserving green spaces, improving accessibility, and integrating seamlessly with the village fabric, it aims to be a positive and enduring contribution to the community.
